Cowes Week ends with a fireworks display held on the last Friday.

Of all the beaches on the Isle of Wight the most popular two are Sandown and Shanklin, both of these towns have plenty of accommodation to suit all needs, some situated close to the beach others are only short walk to the beaches and towns. For the shopper the Island has Newport which offers plenty of high street retail outlets including, Monsoon, Marks & Spencer, New Look, BHS, and HMV,  plus a unique blend of shops that sell goods made on the Isle of Wight such as confectionary, pottery and other Isle of Wight memorabilia. Newport's newest addition is the multiplex cinema which opens in the summer 2000, which features Pizza Hut, KFC and night club bars.
