East Cowes East Cowes has a short promenade with fine views of the harbour. Today it is home to the magnificent Osborne House, once the home of Queen Victoria. It was a country retreat for the Queen and Prince Albert. Osborne house was built on Prince Albert's instructions for the Queen to raise her children. Osborne House is surrounded by Italian gardens and is now owned and maintained by English Heritage. Osborne House is open to the public and lies much as it did when the Queen died in 1901. The Car and passenger ferry from Southampton arrives here at East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. East Cowes accommodation: |
