Ventnor, being one of the sunniest resorts on the Isle of Wight, thanks to its sheltered bay and enclosed town.  It's roads zig zag down to the seafront due to the town being on a series of terraces.  There is a general feel of community amongst the owners of local cafes, restaurants and bars, many specialising in local seafood fresh from the shores of the Island.  The beach offers part sand and part fine shingle for dedicated sun bathers.    The Winter Gardens offer family entertainment.  The Botanic Gardens is a sub-tropical paradise, 100 year old palm trees, a medical herb garden and the Temperate house containing a variety of exotic plants.
